Two  2-Ounce cups of aquatic Christmas Moss.

Christmas Moss can be grown submerged completely in water, emersed in partial water or completely out of water in particularly humid and most environments. It is a carpeting moss when attached to rocks or driftwood but it can also be a free floating plant.

As a decorative carpet this moss is a great addition to any aquarium with egg scattering fish to encourage breeding. When free floating it makes an excellent spawning mop that can stay in the rearing tank with fry with the added benefit of oxygenating the water and reducing the need for filters that can injure or kill fragile fry. Dwarf shrimp also enjoy this moss whether it is carpeting or floating. It provides a natural shelter for small and shy aquatic species. When used terrestrially it is a welcome habitat for high humidity and moisture amphibian enclosures.

To encourage carpeting this moss should be trimmed regularly. when allowed to grow unmanaged the moss can become leggy and lose it's characteristic Christmas tree shape. It can also change color as well as shape to a lighter green as shown in the terrestrial photos. Brighter lights create a darker green more compact growth when carpeting.
